what I NEED right now... the LWD...

I just know that before the summer ends, I am going on a mini vacay with Mr. X! I am sure he is planning our vacation in his head even as I write......(Mr. X please take note, and if you haven't so much as formed an idea or single nugget of a thought for this vacation, pretend like you did when you surprise me before the summer ends......). So obviously, this summer, I am in the market for that gorgeous white dress that can be transformed for either day or night. You see, the iconic white dress isn't just for weddings anymore - no people, it's for much more than that. “White is the color of the season,” says celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, "there’s something soft, ethereal, and angelic about it," and quite frankly that's the look I am going for..... Besides the fact that it’s easy to wear, white conveys a certain carefree innocence. Short, frilly frocks can turn even the vampiest screen siren into a fresh-faced ingĂ©nue!!

Do you own your LWD? Here are my faves, what do you think?

Did you find anything you like?

blast from the past: the treehouse

thought I would share this post from one of my daily reads blog: wonders will never cease!!! I saw this ad in the magazine a few days ago and was immediately drawn to the floating ballerinas and the hunky dude and half skimpily clad girl on the bikes. Made me think about what it would have been like to have a treehouse - maybe not this stunningly fun, buy gee wee - a little bit of this would have been great. a table set for four...

Mr. X and I have not officially had our first dinner party in the new place yet. Quite frankly, we are just getting used to the new relationship and still working through the long distance. Yesterday, I spoke with a photographer who we both met a few months ago at a gallery exhibit. I am seriously trying to woo her into doing my publicity event next month and so I suggested that Mr. X and I should have dinner with her and her husband (who happens to be from my hometown - strange coincidence) in the upcoming weeks. So, it made me think; why not host dinner at our place? {next to my unfriendly neighbor} First thing is first, what table setting will I use? Do you have any suggestions? This is what I would like to do:
  • Plan ahead of time for what I will use on the table: china, glassware, silverware and great flowers (peonies, maybe?).
  • Use a few simple objects on the table to make it personalized.
  • Opt for a runner instead of a tablecloth - our dining room set is new and I love the wood grain.
  • Use fancy napkin rings with my linen and maybe tuck a small flower in the napkin holder.
  • Create handmade place cards for a personalized touch
  • Have a four-course meal

The Independent Woman's Carryall - Proud to Be A Woman

When I walk the streets today, or even search through blogs, I realize that there are so many independent working women who are doing their thing - makes me proud to be a woman. I think every woman needs that super hold-it-all handbag that will never disappoint...through rain or shine, sleuth or snow, it will still be under control. So, my question today is: what's in your carryall? Here are a few of the things I just cannot live without.

My BlackBerry - aka "the crackberry" - this is my life line.
I have work emails, my company's email and everything else - all the touch of a button.

A notebook - ever since I started blogging, I especially need this handy little writing gadget.
It allows me to jot my thoughts down and organize all the floating ideas I have.

Hand Sanitizer - let's just say, that ever since swine flu came into the picture, I have been very cautious about keeping my hands germ free - I love the collection at Bath and Body Works!

A girl has got to have her makeup handy.
My days are long and some evenings I have to go schmoozing..
My laptop! Where would I be without this little beauty!
it's full of all the things I need to survive, like blogging!!Yahh..

My Ipod Nano!! All I can say is kudos to APPLE...
and I made a difference with part proceeds being donated to help the fight against AIDS in Africa.

my camera - you just never know when you're going to have a Kodak moment!

My favorite pair of sunglasses - Michael Kors Alfani.
I don't think you can live in Texas without a pair of shades..I can't imagine living without these..

tic tac - I have one packet in my purse, a packet in my car and another packet at my desk.
these are a essential for those days when you're feeling like you just need a fresh minty breath!

My personalized keypost key chain that has my information
etched into it - just in case I lose them!! which happens..

I Spy! - What Do You Spy? Michael Kors..

I’m currently in love with anything carryall. As a busy professional with many things happening all the time, it is very essential to have a bag that will hold everything, and I mean everything. ENTER: Michael Kors.

The Michael Kors Hamilton Chain Tote is phenomenal; this one is made entirely of patent leather and uber trendy. Everything about this handbag is beautiful; its overall shape and style, the height, the length, the engraved logo and definitely, its capacity to hold all my stuff. When it comes to detail, Michael's got it hands down: the detail of this bag is tremendous and it simply adds something different.
For $298, which is an amazing price for this handbag, I am headed to the Kors store as soon as my pennies are lined up in one straight line...this is a MUST add to any working girl's collection! Mr. X be prepared!
