What I Wouldn't Give....

.....For a closet this organized and this gorgeous! In homage of today being Friday and me raising a large celebratory flag, I thought I would share a little inspiration of something that brightens up my day. However, it seems that one of the only images in my catalog of images that I kept been drawn to was this black closet, it is gorgeous with the right balance of glamour and old world. But I'm not quite sure if this means I'm a lover of things dark or just that I'm a little warped. But at this moment, I am willing to take any credit and whether it's warped or a lover of things dark, I'll take it. Thank you.

Enjoy your weekend. Do something fun. Try something new. And live life without fear.

What I Learned This Week

It's inevitable that there are going to be obstacles in life and that there are going to be those you don't really care for and those who don't really care for you; there are going to be blue skies and gray skies and there are most definitely going to be moments that will make you ask yourself, "why me?" But from all this, I learned that life is short and you only get one life. There is no going back, there is no rewinding the hands of time, there is just the forward movement of life. And if we cease to move in the direction of life, we will cease to exist. So, ask yourselves this question, "am I moving in the forward direction of life or am I standing still or am I going backwards?"

If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. -Henry David Thoreau

Weekend Recap: It's A Food Thing

Over the weekend, I browsed many recipes and loved this Crispy Chicken Wrap. I came across this recipe on Mel's Kitchen and I really loved the ingredients. The major ingredients included a crunchy tortilla filled with rice, chicken, beans, spices and cheese - Yum!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup cooked rice, warm or at room temperature
1 cup cooked, shredded chicken
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 green onion, finely sliced (white and green parts)
1/2 red or green pepper, diced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
juice of 1 lime
1/2 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 cups shredded cheese (I used a combination of monterey jack and sharp cheddar)
Sour cream (optional)
6 burrito-sized flour tortillas

DIRECTIONS:
Mix rice together with chili powder, cumin and garlic salt. Add remaining ingredients except for cheese and sour cream. Sprinkle cheese over tortillas, leaving 1/2-inch border around edges, then arrange chicken and rice mixture down the center of each tortilla. (Optional: on some of the wraps, I dotted the cheese with about 1-2 tablespoons of reduced fat sour cream before arranging chicken and rice mixture down the center – it made the wraps delightfully creamy.) Roll stuffed tortillas, leaving edges open. Spray the tortillas all over with cooking spray.

Heat a large non-stick skillet (or griddle) over medium heat for 1 minute. Arrange 2 wraps, seam-side down, in pan and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining wraps. Serve.

Enjoy!

Want a Happy Life? Then tie it to a Goal!

If you're like most people with the just the wear and tear of life, you've probably thought about what makes you happy or "how can I live a happy life?". For me, the short answer is doing the things that you are passionate about. Quite simply, living a life with intention and purpose and declaring that you are good enough to be respected, recognized for your work, and fulfilling a life that's truly yours. No matter how you define happiness, setting goals for yourself and doing the things necessary to achieving them gives you the opportunity to set into motion the things that will allow you to be passionate, achieve and be happy!.

"If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal,
not to people or things."

Tangerine + Tango = Thursday Inspiration

If you are a big fan of color trends like me, then I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Pantone declared Tangerine Tango as their Pantone Color for 2012. While I’m not typically a huge fan of orange, I think there are many ways and places where we see this color being used. I've been in enamored with the custom made fabrics, chairs, paper chandeliers and of course a variety of stationery pieces that seems to show this color very well.

Great Things Come in Beautiful Packages

Welcome Monday Everyone! It was a wonderful weekend here in Texas. This weekend, I challenged myself to working on sample packages that speak vintage. It's really hard sometimes to think about what your stationery will look like without thinking about what it should be packaged in. You know how the saying goes, your brand is more than just what you're selling - it includes your packaging too. So, when I cam across Oh, hello friend I was over the moon. Here are few packaging inspirations for my new project. By the way, when you get a chance, please check out my Facebook page: Facebook.com/kobyandkylieco - we will be running a giveaway soon and would love your support there too.
